Shanghai reports new corona cases
STORY: Corona infections continue to rise in Shanghai. Authorities reported 16,766 new, asymptomatic cases in one day on Wednesday. Further mass tests for the 26 million inhabitants have been announced for the next few days in the economic metropolis on the Chinese east coast. Until then, the current lockdown will last, the authorities said. A repeal will then be discussed. Business representatives also expect the lockdown to have an impact on Germany. The trade association HDE announced that developments similar to those currently taking place in Shanghai had already led to disruptions in the supply chain and delivery problems in the past two years – particularly in the case of consumer electronics and toys.
The authorities want to contain the current corona outbreak with a strict lockdown and mass tests for 26 million people.
