STORY: “Stern” introduced the Italian post-fascist Giorgia Meloni as the “most dangerous woman in Europe” in September, before she won the parliamentary elections and became the first head of government in Rome. But nearly 100 days after Meloni took office at the helm of the most right-wing government in Italy since World War II, those concerns have largely faded. Meloni came to Berlin for her inaugural visit on Friday. After the meeting, Scholz said that when it comes to subsidies, there shouldn’t be a global race. And we all agree on that in the European Union.” O-ton Meloni: “Of course it is important for us that we quickly come up with a European answer in order to strengthen the competitiveness of our companies. We have seen that the United States of America, for example, is able to overcome this situation by investing heavily in its companies We asked ourselves together what Europe can do to make its companies competitive in this scenario.” O-ton Scholz: “And with a view to the countries of origin of migrants, I say: Those who are not entitled to stay with us must of course return to their country of origin and also be able to return. We will have to reach agreements on this with the countries of origin. In return, I think, and I think that’s important, that there must be legal ways to immigrate to the European Union.” Scholz also wants to deepen bilateral relations with Meloni’s right-wing government.
