Reinforcement for NATO’s eastern flank
STORY: Arrival of 200 US soldiers in Nuremberg on Tuesday. They are initially to be housed at the Grafenwöhr military training area and train there. They are part of the 7,000 US armed forces that US President Joe Biden is also sending to Europe because of the Ukraine war. The US soldiers are to strengthen the eastern flank of NATO. Upon their arrival, the soldiers were greeted by Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder: “This is an important signal of partnership, of determination, of strengthening NATO against the entire Russian invasion. It is a signal that we are sending to Ukraine, to support the people, but also to secure the NATO area.” In the coming days, more than 20 more planes with US soldiers on board are expected to land in Nuremberg.
200 US soldiers landed at Nuremberg Airport on Tuesday morning.
