STORY: NOTE. You will receive this contribution without additional narration. O-ton Robert Habeck (Greens), Federal Minister of Economics: “We have contracts with Uniper and with RWE, which ensure deliveries for Brunsbüttel for the first few months, years. And they buy on the world market. The fact that the world market has different suppliers makes a difference the world market. And it’s smart for companies to buy the cheapest deals for consumers on the world market. That includes Qatar, but it’s not the only supplier on the world market either.” – CUT – “Well, 15 years is great. The conditions obviously seem to be good. I wouldn’t have anything against 20 or longer contracts either. The companies just have to know that the decreasing side in Germany will eventually decrease if we Wanting to meet climate protection goals. It is well known that – and I am speaking in the context of the grand coalition – that Germany wants to be climate-neutral by 2045. That is little time for an insane project, an insanely demanding project.” – SCHNITT – “Of course we want to get back to a market-driven system as quickly as possible. It’s not primarily the state’s primary task to buy gas and build infrastructure. We’re not a gas station. We stepped in because it was clear that only a market-driven model is not a business model. Otherwise we would already have an LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel or in Stade. But we don’t have one. And we have, as it were, made advance payments. It is a precautionary principle that we are following here work.”
