Video: Police officers injured in bomb attack in Turkey

STORY: According to security circles, several police officers were injured in a bomb attack in southeastern Turkey. According to Interior Minister Soylu, the explosive device detonated in a parked vehicle on Friday morning as police officers drove by on a bus. They were on their way to work in Diyarbakir. According to regional authorities, two suspects were arrested. “Thank God our colleagues only had to go to the hospital for observation,” says Diyarbakir governor Ali Ihsan Su. “Seven of them have already been released, two are still there to be checked, but they have no life-threatening injuries.” Initially, no one claimed responsibility for the attack. In the past there had been attacks by Kurdish and left-wing extremists and Islamists in Turkey. In November, a bomb blast killed six and injured dozens in Istanbul. Scores of people were arrested, including a Syrian woman. No one has claimed responsibility for this attack either. The government blames Kurdish extremists. Both the Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK, which has been classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union and the United States, and the SDF alliance, which is led by Kurds in Syria, have denied involvement. Turkey has said several times in recent weeks that it is preparing for a possible ground offensive in northern Syria.
