On hunger strike for 40 days, he had just started a thirst strike at 2 p.m. this Monday, October 9 to demand an end to work on the highway project.
He was taken care of by the firefighters, as we can see in this video published on Instagram. “Thomas complained of headaches,” according to the explanations given by our colleagues at Vakitamedia.
Thomas Brail was evacuated “probably for hospitalization” we also read on Twitter.
Two other activists on hunger strike also began a thirst strike alongside him and are still on the bridge.
Clearing operations suspended until October 13
At the same time, the Occitanie prefecture announces the organization of a meeting this Friday, October 13 on the progress of work on the A 69 motorway: “the prefect of the Occitanie region and the new prefect of Tarn will bring together, at the request of the minister responsible for transport, the mayors and elected officials of the territory this Friday, October 13, 2023. Major clearing operations will not take place before this meeting, a press release specifies. The associations concerned by the project will also be received on the same day.”
