Normandy negotiators meet in Berlin in two weeks

A meeting of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia on the Ukraine crisis ended in Paris on Wednesday. After several hours of negotiations in the so-called Normandy format, the foreign policy advisors of the four governments agreed to a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine. Given the current tensions between Russia, Ukraine and Western countries, it’s good that we’re talking to each other again, said the Ukrainian President’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermark: “The mere fact that work on the Normandy format has resumed is already a very positive signal. We really had a very comprehensive, if not easy, conversation today.” After eight hours of negotiations, the Russian negotiator in charge of the talks, Dmitri Kozak, criticized the fact that the proposals made by the separatists in eastern Ukraine had so far remained unanswered. The chief diplomats agreed to continue the negotiations. According to the French presidential palace, another meeting is to take place in Berlin in two weeks.
