More than 1000 hectares destroyed: forest fires rage in Chile
Pictures from a drone from Chile on Wednesday. In the province of Tierra del Fuego in the south of the country, thick smoke billowed between the trees. By then, more than a thousand hectares of vegetation had been destroyed. According to the Minister of Agriculture Maria Emilia Undurraga, drought and strong winds had favored the fire. “Campfires were lit and the wind carried the flames further. We depend on air help to contain the fire. Deploying teams on the ground is also important, even with heavy machinery.” Fires had already been reported in the region in January.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, the dryness and wind had favored the spread of the flames.
