Many dead after explosion in Ghana mining region
Scores of people were killed in a massive explosion in Ghana, West Africa, on Thursday. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed, civil protection officials said. The accident happened when a truck loaded with explosives collided with a motorcycle in the Western Region. There is mining in the area. The truck was apparently on the way to a mine. Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo spoke of a tragic accident and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. Clean-up and rescue work is ongoing at the scene of the accident.
