Video: “Macron acts, Scholz hesitates” – CSU criticizes late Marder decision

STORY: Annual retreat of the CSU state group on Epiphany in Seeon. CSU leader Markus Söder and CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt welcomed the federal government’s decision to deliver around 40 Marder-type armored personnel carriers from German stocks to Ukraine, but: Alexander Dobrindt, CSU regional group leader: “The Chancellor’s decision to Delivery of Marder tanks to Ukraine is correct, but of course it is late. The French, Macron is acting, Scholz is hesitating.” The CSU chairman Markus Söder also sees the situation in a similar way: “Germany is not the sick man in Europe, but somehow the lonely one. Because we always have to be carried, so to speak, to the decision. Others are the pacesetters in Europe. We follow. It would be better if Germany and France were the motor together. But it doesn’t help if France is more or less the motor and we are just the wheels that roll afterwards. I think it’s wrong to order the tanks so late.” The federal government announced the delivery of the armored personnel carriers on Thursday evening. And the USA and France also want to deliver more. The federal government justified its move with the new situation in the war against Russia. Because there are currently massive air strikes on the Ukrainian infrastructure. The martens are now expected to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of March.
