O-Ton Christian Lindner (FDP), Federal Minister of Finance: “There is now great uncertainty, according to the report by the Council of Experts in Germany, taxes could be increased. However, the Federal Government intends not to increase taxes. The Federal Government maintains that we have to relieve this situation. We see that those on higher incomes make a disproportionately high contribution to state financing anyway. They will therefore also make a disproportionately large contribution to shouldering the crisis measures that have now been taken. We have also planned that the Gas price brake, the recipients of higher incomes have to pay tax on the inflow of support services. In this respect, the principle of efficiency is already applied here. And for this reason, we see economic reasons with regard to further economic development, strengthening growth, for economic reasons, because of the lan gterm question of private investments in the transformation and competitiveness and for reasons of justice, because the strong shoulders already carry a lot, no reason for tax increases.”
