“Last Generation” balloon protest fails
STORY: A protest action by the “Uprising of the Last Generation” initiative at Munich Airport failed on Friday. The activists wanted to release balloons in the security room of the airport and thus ensure that air traffic had to be stopped. However, before the balloons could rise into the sky in the morning, the police had intervened. The activists had announced that they had informed the airport tower before the action so as not to endanger people. Similar actions were planned at the same time at Berlin Airport and Frankfurt Airport. Only on Wednesday did the activists block access roads to the airports, among other things to draw attention to their demands in climate policy.
