Khashoggi murder suspect arrested in Paris
The French police arrested a man on Tuesday suspected of belonging to the killer squad that killed the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The suspect was arrested at a Paris airport while trying to catch a flight to the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh. According to the French police, it is a former member of the Saudi Royal Guard. The authorities acted on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by Turkey. However, Saudi authorities said the French had caught the wrong man and were demanding his immediate release. The journalist Khashoggi was a prominent critic of the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018. Turkish investigators believe his body was dismembered and taken away. His remains were never found.
