Italians jump into the freezing cold Tiber

Warm up briefly and then into the ice-cold water. With at least sunny temperatures of around 12 degrees, a handful of brave Italians welcomed the New Year 2022 with a jump into the Tiber on Saturday. Large crowds gathered on the Cavour Bridge in the center of Rome to watch the annual Tiber jump, which has been a New Year tradition for more than 50 years. This year, four divers, some with more style than others, took the plunge and plunged off the meter-high bridge. The most famous and experienced diver, Maurizio Palmulli, known as Mr. OK, traditionally jumped last and greeted the crowd from the lifeboat.
