Hofreiter calls on Scholz to deliver heavy weapons to Ukraine

INTERVIEW WITH THE CHAIRMAN OF THE EUROPE COMMITTEE ANTON HOFREITER (GREENS): “I have the impression that Mr. Scholz is not aware of the serious damage he caused to the Germany’s reputation in Central Europe, in Eastern Europe, basically in all of Europe. He must finally show leadership responsibility and he must ensure in the cabinet that things are delivered. I have the impression that Mrs Lambrecht is simply acting completely dependently and only does what what the Chancellor’s Office wants. And that’s why the Chancellor’s opinion there must urgently change. He has the responsibility.” // “Mr. Scholz should have the cabinet decide that the ministries are doing their utmost to ensure that as many weapons as possible are supplied. Heavy weapons too.” // “We have already started, as Europe, to massively deliver old Russian material. Slovakia, for example, delivered S-300 anti-aircraft defense systems and German Patriot companies went to Slovakia for this. You have to massively expand that, that the Eastern European member states can deliver more of their old weapons. But in the future you have to deliver more modern weapons. Ukraine is fully aware that they cannot use complex weapons overnight. But they expect that this war will last many months . And so they gradually need replacements and ask for delivery; what can be delivered.”
In an interview, the Green politician emphasizes that work must be done to deliver as many weapons as possible – including heavy weapons.
