Video: Halloween parade in New York

STORY: New York on the night of October 31st to November 1st: Halloween parade with colorful, elaborate and impressive costumes and disguises. The streets of downtown Manhattan were truly creepy. There were representatives from all age groups and above all in a good mood: “I’m Laurie, the skeleton. I’m here to have fun.” “This is the West Village Halloween Parade. We’re Maggies. That means magic bees. I’m here with my daughter. Say Happy Halloween!” – “Happy Halloween!” The organizers assumed around 60,000 participants. The Village Halloween Parade started in 1973. And has been a center of attraction for many fans of the dark disguise ever since. The word Halloween comes from “All Hallows’ Eve”, in German: “All Saints’ Eve” and designates the day or evening before All Saints’ Day. This is a folk custom that originally came mainly from Catholic Ireland.
