STORY: The American guitarist and singer David Crosby is dead. According to several media, the musician died at the age of 81. Among other things, the TV station NBC confirmed the death on Thursday, citing a source close to the family. He was considered one of the most influential rock singers of the ’60s and ’70s. Crosby was a founding member of two respected rock bands: the country-folk influenced Byrds, for whom he wrote the hit “Eight Miles High.” And along with Neil Young he had the band called Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young that defined the soft side of the music of the Woodstock generation. As a member of both groups, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
