But it was a good togetherness between the three of us. And I think that did the party good, as we did, that we did. And that certainly set standards, not only for us, but also for others. […] The Adenauerhaus, the CDU, this party headquarters has been in a state of emergency for three years. And those are the times. They don’t have to repeat themselves like that either. […] We are not there for ourselves, we have an assignment here in Berlin in the opposition. The voters of the CDU have also given us a mandate and to fulfill this mandate in the German political public, but also in the German Bundestag. That will also be our job in the opposition. “
The 66-year-old received over 60 percent of the votes in the member survey.
