STORY: Traffic jam on the Bosphorus. Numerous ships were in waiting positions north and south of the strait on Friday night. The reason was a freighter carrying corn from the Ukraine, which ran aground on Thursday after a rudder failure and temporarily blocked the strait. The Bosphorus divides Istanbul and connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara and beyond to the Mediterranean Sea. According to a witness and the economic data provider Refinitiv, the bow of the ship was about 150 meters from the shore at the time of the grounding.
