The EU Commission classifies nuclear power and natural gas as sustainable
All protests have brought nothing. Members of the non-profit organization Avaaz wore masks of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron. They stood in front of a staged grave in Brussels on Wednesday, which was supposed to symbolically represent the burial of the so-called Green Deal. With the so-called taxonomy, which was presented in Brussels on Wednesday, financial flows should flow specifically into sustainable technologies. Critics complain that with nuclear power and gas, the taxonomy loses credibility and ultimately could not be accepted by investors on the capital market. The EU Parliament and the member states of the European Union now have four months to prevent this, which is not considered likely. This would require a majority in the European Parliament or a veto by at least 20 of the 27 EU countries.
