Video: Dolly Parton gets $100 million from Jeff Bezos

STORY: Country musician Dolly Parton has received a $100 million award from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The award, established in 2001, recognizes people who, according to Bezos, “pursue solutions with courage and civil courage”. The US billionaire announced the award alongside his partner, news anchor Lauren Sanchez. Parton was impressed: “Wow! Did you say 100 million dollars?” “I think that people who are able to help should put their money where their heart is. And I believe you are doing the same. I will do my best to do good things with that money .” The 76-year-old singer-songwriter, who penned hits like “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene,” has been involved in charitable causes for a long time. During the corona pandemic, she donated one million dollars to a US university to support the development of a Covid vaccine. Recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Parton has also founded a number of charities including the Dollywood Foundation, which focuses on education and poverty alleviation.
