Contribution to species conservation: Zoo presents young tigers

Sumatran tigers are considered critically endangered in the wild, their Indonesian homeland. All the more joy at the London Zoo these days is the Sumatran tiger offspring, which was born in December. One month later the puppy was presented to the public. Pictures published by the Zoological Society of London show the offspring with their mother Gaysha. When the sun was shining, she took her cub to the open-air enclosure. Sumatran tigers are the smallest remaining subspecies of the tiger. In the wild, the big cats are threatened by poachers and the destruction of their habitat by humans. The first health check is due in a few weeks. Then the zoo will also find out the gender of the baby tiger.
