STORY: Climate activists from the group “Last Generation” sawed off the top of the 15 meter high Christmas tree in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. According to the group, two women had previously climbed up to the top of the Nordmann fir on Pariser Platz with a lifting boom. They then used a saw to separate the top two meters from the rest of the tree. A banner attached to the lifting platform read: “This is only the tip of the Christmas tree.” While all of Germany spends the week getting the best gifts from the biggest stores, others would wonder where they get their drinking water from after droughts and floods have wiped out their crops. The climate collapse in Germany is just around the corner and the federal government is not making any moves to protect the population. According to their own statements, the police officers who were on site during the action initially considered the action to be a routine measure on the Christmas tree. After the activists came down again, the officers arrested them and took their personal details. Now it is being investigated for property damage.
