Car hits gate of Russian embassy in Bucharest, driver dead
STORY: In the Romanian capital Bucharest, a car crashed into the gate of the Russian embassy on Wednesday. The driver died in the process, police said. It was unclear if it was an accident or if the man drove into the gate on purpose. Police did not identify the driver. In the past few weeks, protests against the war in Ukraine have taken place in front of Russian embassies in several European countries. Since the Russian invasion began on February 24, around 625,000 Ukrainians have fled to Romania, and around 80,000 of them are still in the country.
Authorities said it was unclear whether it was an accident or an attempted attack.
