Video: Breuer new general inspector of the Bundeswehr

STORY: Carsten Breuer has been inaugurated with military honors as the new Chief Inspector General of the Bundeswehr. Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius received the general on Friday in Berlin’s Bendlerblock. Breuer has shown several times what it means to show leadership in exceptional and crisis situations and to take responsibility, Pistorius wrote in a daily order published on his ministry’s website. Since June last year, Breuer has headed the Bundeswehr’s Territorial Command, which he established. From 2021 to 2022 he headed the federal government’s Corona crisis team. Breuer succeeds Eberhard Zorn, who has held the post of Inspector General since 2018. As the highest-ranking soldier, the 58-year-old is now to implement the turning point in the Bundeswehr that the federal government has proclaimed.
