Brazil: Rescuers recover bodies from rubble
A rescue team in Petropolis, Brazil, hoped for success: but in this case they could only recover one body. After the heavy rains of the past few days, landslides and floods, rescue teams are still looking for survivors of the natural disaster. The authorities had recently reported at least 38 deaths, but the number could continue to rise, it said. More than 300 people had to leave their apartments and houses. They were offered emergency shelters.
An unusual amount of rain had fallen over a mountainous region not far from Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the week. The consequences have claimed the lives of dozens of people.
