STORY: A pile of rubble, not much remains of the Wallace family home in Alabama. The US state was hit by a series of tornadoes on Thursday. One of the violent hurricanes devastated the town of Deathsville. Just last August, Amber and Justin Wallace moved in with their daughter. “I don’t know what to do, honestly. Everything we had is gone.” Justin Wallace was at home when the storm warnings and evacuation calls came. “I wanted to get to safety, to an area that was supposed to be protected from the storms. I hadn’t been gone 10 minutes when I got a call that we’d been completely blown away.” The town of Selma was also hit hard by the tornadoes. Governor Kay Ivey got an idea of the situation here on Friday. “It’s a lot worse than anything I’ve imagined or seen on TV, the roofs are just gone and the trees are toothpick shaped and now there’s a lot of work to be done here and I know we’re pulling ourselves together and will make it. We have already applied for government funding.” The tornadoes swept across several states in the southeastern United States on Thursday, from Mississippi to Georgia. At least nine people were killed, and authorities fear the death toll could rise.
