STORY: The Russian state broadcaster RT has suspended moderator Anton Krassowski. The 47-year-old told a TV program that Ukrainian children who think Ukraine has been occupied by Russia should either be thrown into a river and drowned, or locked in a hut and set on fire. In addition, Krassowski called for the shooting of Ukrainians and downplayed rape. The RT editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan, called Krassowski’s statements “barbaric and horrible” and pronounced the provisional termination. Nobody should think that she or other RT employees share Krassowski’s views, she wrote on Telegram. This was afflicted by – so literally – “temporary madness”. It wasn’t the first time that 47-year-old Krassowski had become conspicuous. He had commented on Russia’s deadly rocket attacks against Ukraine, saying he was happy now. The suspended moderator said on Monday that he regretted having crossed a line.
