Video: 16,000 musicians in Bogotá

STORY: World record at the weekend in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. According to the organizers, with around 16,000 musicians, this was the largest concert ever organized. Singers and children’s choirs called up by the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra also came together. And among other things, there was Beethoven’s 9th symphony as well as music with socially and politically critical texts. The event took place at the Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park in Bogota and was organized to celebrate the final report of the Colombian Truth Commission, released in June. The Truth Commission was set up as part of a 2016 peace deal between the government and FARC rebels. It was designed to uncover the truth about human rights abuses committed during Colombia’s nearly 60-year internal conflict. The sad result is that from 1985 to 2018 around 450,000 people were killed and by 2019 over 7.7 million people were displaced.
