Special evening in Oregon, with the first duel between the two prospects the most scrutinized and expected of the last Draft, namely Victor Wembanyama (30 points, 7 blocks, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and Scoot Henderson (25 points). A confrontation which falls into the hands of the Frenchman, since the Spurs dominated without trembling the Blazers (118-105).
Without Anfernee Simons, Malcolm Brogdon (29 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and Jeremy Grant (29 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists) tried to referee the clash between “Wemby” and “Scoot”, but Portland especially suffered collectively compared to San Antonio (eight players with at least 8 points).
In the lead throughout the match, thanks to a great start (24-4 after six minutes, 38-14 after one quarter), the Spurs did not make a mistake against the Blazers, before finding the same opponent, and still in Oregon, this Friday in “back-to-back”.

– Victor Wembanyama shines, Scoot Henderson spins. His playing time certainly remains limited (23 minutes), but that did not prevent Victor Wembanyama from performing well on both sides of the floor last night. Very fair and clean in his decision-making, he perhaps even delivered the best game of his career, becoming only the third rookie, after… David Robinson and Tim Duncan, to accumulate at least 30 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. Opposite, Scoot Henderson set his new points record, but he messed up and watered a lot, which tarnished his performance. Even more so in comparison with that of “Wemby”.

. The absence of Anfernee Simons undoubtedly helped, but the fact remains that the Spurs were very serious about returning to victory, after five defeats in a row. Well into their match, they directly put the Blazers’ heads under water, taking around twenty points in advance in five minutes under the leadership of Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama, which propelled them all evening. Even dominated on the rebound, the Texans then no longer looked in their rearview mirror, rolling out their basketball by pressing in particular in the paint (60 points in the paint, 26-28 on shots).
