Victim of the Mbappé show, Polish goalkeeper Szczesny had to console his 4-year-old son

We suspected that the extreme confidence displayed by Wojciech Szczesny, before the 8th France-Poland World Cup final, would come back to him like a boomerang. Although already martyred by Kylian Mbappé, a month earlier in the Champions League, the Polish goalkeeper of Juventus had thus announced to be “the key to stopping Mbappé”. Well, a prodigious double from the PSG star later, and Wojciech Szczesny finds himself since Sunday evening out of the World Cup (3-1).

A very hard elimination for the son Szczesny, Liam (4 years old), filmed in tears in the corridors of the Al-Thumama stadium in Doha. So impressive so far (two goals conceded in three group games, with even a penalty from Messi stopped), the 32-year-old goalkeeper found himself consoling him, in a very cute scene.

“We can lose with pride and honor, and I am proud of this team”, reacted the person concerned Sunday evening. On his Instagram account, his companion Marina Szczesny relayed the image of this hug, commenting: “I hope that in x years my boy will stand in the goal and lead our national team to the top”.
