Victim of an “electric arc”, the metro should not reopen until Thursday

Melted cables and heavy smoke. Tisseo has just delivered its diagnosis after the electrical incident which occurred this Wednesday morning, shortly before 9 a.m., and which has paralyzed the entire metro from Toulouse. The fault of an “electric arc”, a stroke of juice comparable to lightning. It happened on the track, “when a train passed shortly before the Patte-d’Oie station”, indicates the operator. In addition to the release of smoke, which slightly inconvenienced eight travelers, the incident “damaged cables to the command post at the piloting of lines A and B” but also “a guide bar and an insulator”.

Damage that requires “a heavy intervention at the level of the guide bar and the electrical harnesses”. Hence the unusual length of the stop. Technicians are working hard to restore the facilities.

Tisséo announces the resumption of traffic for Thursday, July 7, with the objective of restarting in the morning but without advancing for the moment on the exact time of the return of the metro. In the meantime, line A travelers can take line 14 which connects Basso-Cambo and Balma-Gramont; those of line B have line B’ making the connection between the Grand-Rond and Borderouge. Line L6 is extended to Université Paul-Sabatier.
