Music stars mourn the loss of Mexican singers

The famous Mexican singer Vicente Fernández has died. Stars like Ricky Martin and Luis Fonsi have recognized him on Instagram.
The Mexican singer Vicente Fernández died this Sunday (December 12th) at the age of 81. That comes from a posting on the official Instagram account of the singer. “It was an honor and he was proud to share his great musical career with everyone and to give everything for his audience. Thank you for continuing to applaud, thank you for continuing to sing,” it says there. Fernández had been operated on in a private clinic in Guadalajara after a fall in early August, and his health had deteriorated more and more afterwards.
Fernández became known as the ranchera singer, a traditional genre of Mexican music. He recorded more than 300 songs, sold over 50 million albums worldwide, and won three Grammys and eight Latin Grammys.
Ricky Martin: “He loved me very much and I loved him”
Some stars have already commented on the singer’s death. Ricky Martin (49) writes in an Instagram post to shared pictures: “My heart is broken. Don Chente was an angel all his life. He loved me very much and I loved him.” Whenever he played in Guadalajara, Mexico, Fernández came to his concerts “and the only thing that comforts my soul at this moment is that every time we saw each other, I told him how important he was to me. Politics also spoke out after the Ranchera singer’s death. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (68) tweeted: “I offer my condolences to family, friends and millions of admirers of Vicente Fernández, a symbol of the ranchera song known and recognized in Mexico and abroad.”
