Verena Altenberger says goodbye to “Polizeiruf 110” with the best market share in ten years.

Verena Altenberger (35) says goodbye to the “Police Call 110” with strong ratings. 7.25 million people tuned in on Sunday evening AGF video research for “Paranoia”, her last appearance as Elisabeth “Bessie” Eyckhoff. The crime thriller clearly won the day at prime time in the first.

Best “Polizeiruf 110” market share in ten years

The market share of 29.8 percent is even stronger than the absolute number of viewers. According to a press release from Bayerischer Rundfunk, this is the best market share for the entire “Polizeiruf 110” series in ten years.

Compared to the previous case of Bessie Eyckhoff, broadcast in May 2022, “Paranoia” grew by 900,000 viewers. For Altenberger, in their sixth and final appearance, it was the second-best odds ever. Only “Polizeiruf 110: Frau Schrödinger’s cat”, Eyckhoff’s third film, reached a larger audience with 7.87 million people.

Verena Altenberger: Farewell after only four years

Only in 2019 did Verena Altenberger start working for the Sunday thriller. She succeeded Matthias Brandt (61), who, as Hanns von Meuffels, played at the Munich location of the “Polizeiruf” for 15 issues.

In the summer of 2022, ARD surprisingly announced that Verena Altenberger was leaving “Polizeiruf 110” again. The actress wanted to face “new acting challenges”, it was said at the time. “It was difficult for me to say goodbye to the Munich ‘police call’, Elisabeth Eyckhoff has become very dear to me over the past four years,” said the Austrian herself.

Johanna Wokalek (48) will succeed Verena Altenberger in Munich. Its first mission is scheduled to air later this year.
