The Munich Higher Regional Court sentenced Jennifer W. to ten years’ imprisonment. According to the judge’s verdict, in Iraq she stood by the murder of a five-year-old girl.

The IS returnees Jennifer W. has to go to prison for ten years. The higher regional court in Munich saw it as proven, among other things, that the accused did not intervene in 2015 when her husband chained a Yezidi girl in Iraq and let her starve to death. In addition to complicity in murder, the judges also found the defendants guilty of membership in a terrorist organization abroad, of attempted war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The prosecution had demanded life imprisonment for Jennifer W. Her defense, on the other hand, only received a two-year prison sentence.

Marriage to an ISIS fighter

According to her own statements, Jennifer W. traveled to Iraq in 2014 for ideological reasons to join the terrorist militia “Islamic State” and to marry one of the group’s fighters. The five-year-old girl is said to have died the following year – as a punishment for allegedly wetting the child. However, the defense had stated in the trial that it has not yet been proven that the girl actually died.

In the same year Jennifer S. returned to Germany and joined the Salafist-jihadist scene here. She was arrested in 2018.
