Verdi union reports agreement with ground service providers at BER airport

According to the Verdi union, employees in ground handling services will receive more money. The agreement reached on Monday between the employees and the three companies Swissport, Airline Assistance Switzerland and Wisag provides for increases in monthly wages of between 448 and 490 euros, Verdi announced on Tuesday.

This corresponds to an increase of between 12 and 19.5 percent. The three companies were initially unavailable for confirmation.

According to Verdi, the contract runs until the end of 2024. “This collective agreement will result in a massive increase in wages,” said negotiator Enrico Rümker. The union had originally demanded 500 euros more per month and a one-year term for the employees of the three BER ground service providers.

The employees now initially received 309.59 euros more on March 1 of this year, it said. A further increase of 138 euros will then take place in February 2024. For employees with many years of professional experience, up to 181 euros more per month are possible, Verdi said. In addition, the employers would also bear the costs for a 49-euro job ticket as part of another collective agreement.
