That’s what Leonard Bernstein’s daughter says about the movie “Maestro”

Bradley Cooper’s biopic Maestro premieres at Venice Film Festival. Also Leonard Bernstein’s daughter, who praises the director and main actor in the highest tones.

The daughter of the famous composer Leonard Bernstein has been collaborating with Bradley Cooper praised for film about her father. Cooper (48) tells in “Maestro” about the love story between Bernstein (1918-1990) and his wife Felicia Montealegre (1922-1978; embodied by Carey Mulligan).

“He decided to involve us throughout the process,” said Jamie Bernstein, 70, in Venice, where the drama is premiering at the film festival. She was referring to herself and her two siblings. “It was incredibly touching that Bradley went out of his way to not only involve us, but to tell this story in the most authentic way possible.”

Cooper, Mulligan and the film’s other actors didn’t make it to Venice because of the Hollywood strike. The festival quoted Cooper in a statement: “We listened to a lot of opera and classical music albums at my house,” it said. “I spent hours imagining how I would conduct an orchestra with all the effort of an eight-year-old. Most notably, we kept listening to a recording of Leonard Bernstein.”
