Vaterstetten: four town hall concerts in 2023 – Ebersberg

In 2023 there will again be four town hall concerts in Vaterstetten – in April, June, September and October. And the “four” is thematically above all of them. It starts with a children’s concert Munich Philharmonic, which brings Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” to the stage in music and dance. He is followed by the four musicians from Quadro Nuevo, which will bewitch you with versatile melodies and rhythms from all over the world. The third four brings Pindakaas to Vaterstetten, one of the best-known saxophone quartets in Europe. The musicians of the fourth town hall concert are no less well known: the guitar quartet Machado keeps setting new standards.

The first concert is part of a farewell tour of Heinrich Klug, former solo cellist of the Munich Philharmonic and founder of the children’s series under their roof. Together with top-class musicians and five dancers, he will bring Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” to the stage for young and old. This last “Munich Philharmonic Concert for Children” will take place on Friday, April 28, at 5 p.m. in the Neukeferloh community center.

On Friday, June 23, at 7 p.m., the four musicians from Quadro Nuevo along with Harmonic Brass in the Reitsbergerhalle. Wild Balkan sweeps, a jagged saber dance, beguiling arabesques, Ravel’s “Bolero” and historical melodies will take the audience to long-forgotten worlds: together, the well-travelled musicians trace Alexander the Great’s urge to conquer or the myth of Jason.

The Saxophone Quartet Pindakaas on Friday, September 22, at 7 p.m., will provide unlimited music enjoyment under the motto America. This was and is a “melting pot”. Very different styles find their place next to each other at the same time, all speak a convincing language, all arouse spontaneous emotions. Compositions by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Igor Stravinsky, Astor Piazzolla, Kurt Weill, George Gershwin, Leon Stein, Thelonious Monk and Chick Corea will be heard. It will be moderated by baritone saxophonist Matthias Schröder.

The fourth concert on Friday, October 20th at 7 p.m. will be played by the guitar quartet Machado. Masterfully and subtly arranged in the style of “Guitarra Nueva”, the ensemble takes the story of the beautiful miller’s wife from Manuel de Falla’s ballet between the strings, as well as Astor Piazzolla’s “Maria de Buenos Aires” or the tango as an elixir against the misery of the suburbs. In addition to David Orlowsky’s “Julia”, Aretha Franklin also finds a place in this sounding picture book as an icon of the freedom struggle of Afro-American women. A cycle of “Four Songs of Life” by Bernd Prüflinger gives the program a very personal touch: one family, four generations of women – and countless emotions.
