Louis van Gaal actually wanted to retire. Now he indicated that a coaching job would still appeal to him.

The position as Bonds coach should actually be the last stop in professional football for Louis van Gaal. This activity also ended with the World Cup. Now, however, he hinted that he might still be available for a currently vacant post.

Louis van Gaal’s third and last term as national coach of the Netherlands lasted about a year and a half. At the same time, it was the last coaching job he took on in professional football. He led the Elftal to the world championship – and then it was over.

The 71-year-old had announced this himself in good time and with full authority, as has always been known.

Even after the Netherlands were eliminated, he declared that he was on his (football) pension with immediate effect. But he doesn’t really seem to believe in it yet.

“Career ended, but…” – van Gaal is interested in Portugal job

In the meantime, van Gaal has again made a possible exception and thus returned to the business early. “I’ve finished my career but if Portugal want me, I’ll listen to it. That’s all I have to say. I don’t want you guys to think I’m an offer,” the coach said (via picture).

Portugal national team manager would appear to be another job he could enjoy. A possible commitment up to and for the upcoming European Championship would be conceivable in principle.

However, he is not (yet) a real candidate for the Portuguese association – at least based on what has been heard so far. José Mourinho is still the favorite for the post. His simultaneous involvement in Rome would be an obstacle, but not a problem that would immediately shoot up this scenario.
