It is known that Windows 11 does not have an easy time competing with the previous OS. Windows 10 still seems to be the most used operating system, especially in the Steam gaming sector. According to the Steam survey from October 2023 usage even increased by 7.61 percent.
According to Valve’s data, which the company collects monthly, Windows 10 currently has a share of almost 66 percent. Windows 11 lost almost 7 percent share and is now at 30.53 percent. The proportion of Linux and MacOS users on Steam remains roughly the same and stagnates at less than two percent each.
There may also be an explanation for this. The proportion of users who use their system in Chinese (simplified Chinese) has increased by almost 14 percent. It is not uncommon in China to sell computers with the established Windows 10, especially since Windows 11 has relatively strict hardware requirements.
Ada Lovelace is rare
Interesting: Due to the recovering graphics card market, more and more users are turning to a reasonably current and popular graphics card. While the rather old Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 was in first place a few months ago, the Geforce RTX 3060 (test, g+) can further expand its current first place. Almost every tenth user uses this graphics card.
In general, the top places are all occupied by Nvidia graphics cards. These are almost exclusively older generations. The first Ada Lovelace graphics card with the Geforce RTX 4070 is only in eleventh place with a share of 2.08 percent. Like the RTX 4060 in 13th place, it rose sharply compared to last month.
Many other values remain similar: Users usually use CPUs with six physical cores and install 16 GB of RAM in the system. In addition, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels remains the preferred monitor resolution. Almost 60 percent of all users play in Full HD.
