Valentin Rongier (OM) “really disgusted” by the songs from Nice on Emiliano Sala

Valentin Rongier has a lot on his heart. Former teammate of Emiliano Sala in Nantes, the OM midfielder returned to a press conference on Thursday on the controversy caused by Nice supporters on Wednesday. The Ultras Populaire Sud sang a song on Wednesday, during the match against Saint-Etienne (4-2), mocking the circumstances of the death of the Argentine striker, which occurred in a plane crash in 2019. After having already reacted to hot on Twitter, Rongier gave a layer in front of the journalists.

“Obviously, like everyone else, I was disgusted when I saw that, he breathed. It’s really human stupidity, it’s free, and it’s not even funny. They wanted to be interesting with that song, but to attack the memory of someone who left, in addition in such a tragedy… I was really disgusted to see that fools could sing that. It tarnishes the image of the Nice club, of all the supporters in France, it touched me a lot. »

Condemnation of the club, response from the Ultras

OGC Nice, via a press release, and Christophe Galtier, in a post-match press conference, condemned the behavior of their supporters. The Ultras Populaire Sud responded to the controversy with a press release, in which they notably claim second-degree culture and openly target Galtier, condemning “with the greatest firmness those who fire on the ambulance at the slightest deviation”.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League has taken up the case and could decide on sanctions.
