Ski holidays in Austria will be noticeably more expensive again in the coming winter season. The prices for lift tickets are rising sharply: on average between seven and ten percent, as the APA news agency reported. The price increase is most severe in the Arlberg in Tyrol. The day ticket there now costs 75 euros, which is twelve percent more than last season. In the previous year, cable car prices had already increased by an average of eight percent.
Representatives of the cable car industry cited general inflation as well as increased energy prices and interest rates as important reasons for the higher ticket prices. Salzburg’s industry representative Erich Egger also pointed out that the collective wages for cable car employees had been increased by a good ten percent.
In several large ski areas in Tyrol and Salzburg, six-day tickets for adults become more than ten percent more expensive in the high season. In Ischgl you now have to pay 323 euros, in Zillertal 349 euros, in Saalbach-Hinterglemm 377 euros and in the Arlberg 401 euros. However, if you book online in advance, you can get significant discounts in some places.
