You could rely on the Germans’ desire to travel. “We always travel,” was the credo of the industry, at least before the pandemic. But in view of an inflation rate of up to ten percent at times in the past year and sometimes even larger price jumps, for example for groceries, cutbacks are also being made in many households when it comes to the holiday budget. According to a recent survey by the management consultancy PwC, more than 70 percent of those who usually take a package holiday are considering traveling cheaper, shorter or not at all because of the high inflation.
