Vacation in Germany: Events on Sylt – Travel

Even if the open-air events with the upcoming autumn storms are less: The weatherproof musicians of the Holiday party band continue until the end of October and play hits, musicals and evergreens twice a day in the concert shell on the Westerland promenade. And they are not alone in that, because real Sylt fans like to stand in the wind anyway. That is why there is also a guest program in the cooler season – for both indoors and outdoors. A selection.

The prelude to it Family weeks in the autumn holidays from October 2nd to 23rd, a program aimed at children, young people and their parents. In the wilderness camp they can learn how to make a fire without a lighter, in the lolly workshop they learn how to make candy themselves.

On bird tours and mudflat walks for children, naturalists show the typical birds of the island and the animal inhabitants of the silt. Events on the subject of plastic waste are a special focus. The recycling mobile team explains in a child-friendly way how harmful plastic is for the flora and fauna. The little ones can then make a ruler or clothes peg out of garbage they have collected themselves.

Culinary is a year-round theme on the island. The Sylt Restaurant and Hotel Fitschen will take part in the Schleswig-Holstein Gourmet Festival again this year. The guest chef is star chef Daniel Raub, who prepares a five-course menu for guests on October 31st and November 1st.

Of the Heath triathlon on October 2nd in the Braderuper Heide is a slightly different marathon, which is less about records and more about being there. Under the guidance of the Naturschutzgemeinschaft Sylt eV, the participants make clear ship in the heather: Young trees, wild roses and thorn bushes that threaten to overgrow the heather have to be pulled up manually with the roots, a very sweaty discipline. There is no winner, but there is a hearty soup at the end. Bring thorn-proof gloves and sturdy boots. The meeting point is the Üp de Hiir car park at 10.30 a.m. If, on the other hand, you want to make something bloom, you can learn to make seed bombs in a workshop – with seeds from typical Sylt plants.

To the Yoga retreat invites yogini Maren Schulz to Hörnumer Haus Möwennest from October 1st to 4th. When the weather is nice, the participants practice asanas on the beach, on grass, on the moss by the salt marshes.

Music, cabaret and literature – The new theater season has already started, a theater subscription could be worthwhile for permanent guests on the island. Well-known artists have announced themselves. On December 28th, the Leipziger Pfeffermühle will make a guest appearance in the Alter Kursaal in Westerland. Those interested in literature will also get their money’s worth, for example at the trio reading by three crime writers on October 14th or at the long crime weekend that takes place in Sylt hotels from November 9th to 14th.
