Users of RER B and D evacuated on the tracks after an incident

It is a not trivial incident that occurred this morning at the Gare du Nord. Travelers stranded in RER B and D were forced to get off the tracks. And this, because of “the presence of people on the tracks at Paris Nord station”, according to SNCF. Three RER D and four RER B were blocked between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon.

Videos have circulated on social networks of people forced to walk on the RER tracks, several people claiming to have witnessed “discomfort”.

“Without air conditioning”

“I took 3h45 to get to my work instead of 1h30, and I had to take multiple transports”, affirms Internet user. “We are stuck[s] in the Gare du Nord tunnel for 30 minutes, the discomfort is linked in my car it becomes very complicated, ” declared another. “It’s a disaster I have live news and there’s a baby barely a few months old stuck in this train without air conditioning”, an Internet user is alarmed. “I saw a lot of people who felt unwell”, recount also “Z_up”.

The vice-president of Ile-de-France mobilities, Grégoire de Lasteyrie, declared to wonder “about the conditions of evacuation and the waiting before this for travelers by the SNCF, in order to guarantee the safety of all”. “Ile-de-France Mobilités will take stock with the operator in order to understand the precise course of this incident and learn from it so as not to leave travelers stranded between two stations for so long. The question of securing the tracks must also be asked, ”he added. SNCF and RATP presented their “sincere apologies”.
