Uschi Glas: “People always tried to push me into a corner”

In the past, Uschi Glas was often underestimated. For her 80th birthday, the actress straightens out her public image – in an unusually opinionated conversation about her life.

Woman Glassin the interview on your 60th birthday, the first question was whether your generation is redefining aging.
Was it really 20 years ago? Well 80, I can’t even imagine it.

How do you answer the question at almost 80?
My generation lived completely differently than the previous generation. When I think of my grandparents, they were exhausted in their old age. My grandmother, a delicate and thin woman, worked day and night, survived the First World War, inflation, the Nazis, and the Second World War. Fortunately, apart from the war in Ukraine, we only knew peace in Europe. I fear that the generations after us will no longer have it so easy. Not that I want to be pessimistic…
