Uschi Glas: Her eventful life from “Winnetou” to “Fack ju Göhte”

Uschi Glas will celebrate her 80th birthday in a few days. She was born on March 2, 1944 in Landau an der Isar. This photo series gives a little insight into her life and work as an actress. We also show black and white photos of her as a toddler with her parents and siblings.

Thanks to the comedy “Fack ju Göhte”, Uschi Glas is now also known to a younger audience. But the beginning of her career goes back a long way, to the mid-1960s: in 1966 she played the “half-blood Apanatschi” and became known throughout Germany in this role. The final breakthrough came in 1968 with the comedy “To the Matter, Sweetheart”.

Uschi Glas grew up in humble circumstances as the youngest of three children. her father worked for a car manufacturer. She is a trained accountant.

Before her big birthday, she recalled in interviews how she was bullied and excluded as a Protestant child in a Catholic environment and at school.

In her private life, the actress has been involved in the “Brotzeit” association for years, which provides children with breakfast at primary and special schools. Glas repeatedly points out that breakfast is not a given for many children in this country and points out the plight of poorer families.
