Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney never stopped criticizing Donald Trump – now he is no longer running for the Senate. The Republicans are thus losing a politician for whom his moral compass was usually more important than loyalty to the party line.
Mitt Romney may be the only Republican politician who isn’t afraid of Donald Trump. He voted for conviction in both impeachment proceedings against the former president. Nobody else from the Grand Old Party dared to do that. Romney has just announced that he will not run for re-election as Utah state senator next year.
