Michael Jordan is considered one of the best basketball players in the world – and he continues to set records even after the end of his active sports career: this time with shoes. A pair of his sneakers sold for $2.2 million in New York. That’s the equivalent of around two million euros – and according to the auction house Sotheby’s, a pair of shoes has never been sold for more money. Jordan wore the shoes during a 1998 NBA Finals game.
In October 2021, Sotheby’s already auctioned off a pair of Michael Jordan’s sneakers. At that time it was a pair that the ex-pro had worn in his first NBA season. About $1.5 million was paid at the time. A pair of sneakers worn by US rapper Kanye West at the 2008 Grammy brought in even more money: $1.8 million.
