It’s a story straight out of a Disney film: terrier mix Mishka disappears from her home in sunny California, her family’s hope dwindles day by day. Eight months later there was a happy outcome.

Odyssey with a happy ending: To the great joy of her owners in the US state of California, a woman has been missing for months Dog unexpectedly reappeared thousands of kilometers from her home. Pictures and videos shared by the animal welfare organization Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society (GPAAS) showed a small, shaggy dog with white fur wagging her tail happily as she was reunited with her owners.

The dog Mishka travels across the USA

The terrier mix Mishka, who had been missing since July, was picked up by the police near the city of Detroit in the state of Michigan and taken to an animal shelter – more than 3,770 kilometers away from her home in San Diego, southern California. A resident had previously reported the stray dog.

Using a microchip, animal rights activists were finally able to locate Mishka’s owner in San Diego. According to GPAAS, the family happened to be vacationing in the Midwestern city of Minneapolis at the time and were therefore able to personally pick up their missing pet from the animal shelter. How the little dog traveled so far remains her secret.
